On how he uses AI to grow sales

“People aren't going to Google as frequently anymore. They're going to ChatGPT, Claude and Grok and asking: who's the best commercial flooring company?”

You can't buy your way into that answer. There's no bid, no placement, no agency selling it yet. The fix is slow and unglamorous: answer the questions customers actually ask on the phone, publish the answers, and say your name, market, and specialty in language a machine can read.

On time management

Justin and his wife run their household on one shared rule that keeps scheduling friction out of the marriage.

“If she puts something on my calendar and I don't complain within a 14-day window, it's on. But if it's inside 48 hours, I can say no. That gives us flexibility.”

On handling pressure

Asked how he manages the internal pressure of running the business, Justin came back to a clip of Novak Djokovic on the mental side of competing.

“The difference between me and the average tennis player isn't that I don't have valleys — I have them too. It's that my speed to get out of them is very quick.”

Self can't see self, Justin says. That's why coaches, mentors, and people around you matter. Not to remove the valleys, but to shorten them.

On defining success

His closing advice to any owner watching who wants to follow his path:

“Be really clear on what success looks like for you as a person, and what you want your life to look like — then back into it with the business.”

People first, results second. That's the whole philosophy: figure out what you're actually building toward before you optimize how fast you get there.
